Small quantities from a large distance: how is this to be dealt with?

Considering the rules of designing a sewer system and the perspective of its operation over 50 years, we deal with the problem of overdimensioning and flows that are too low in the early development phase of the drainage area.

This is a problem of a great significance at the start of the development of an urban complex. There are merely a few residential premises, while several hundred of them are expected to be built in the future. Each of the residents, however, will be discharging sewage now, and in 50 years from now.

This, however, is not the only problem. We need to deal with topographical conditions. Most frequently, we deal with housing developments on the outskirts of cities, which are situated several or more kilometers from waste treatment plants or, to make things even worse, with distant small rural settlements that are changing its function to adopt a recreational and tourist function.

How can one cope with this? EkoWodrol has developed a solution to these problems: a pneumatic sewage pumping station: the EPP SZUSTER system. We are free from the limitations of the capacity as we have eliminated pumps and used compressors. When successively increasing the inflow of sewage, one can freely increase the pressure generated by the compressors without any need to convert the pressure pipelines or the chamber of the pumping station. Therefore, the capacity of the whole system is smoothly adjusted, even up to a 13 bar pressure.

Owing to the direct contact between sewage and air, sewage is refreshed, and so it does not purify and does not produce any odor.

Further successes of the present solution include an elimination of the need to use aerating and vent valves as well as the possibility of automated cleaning of the pipeline with compressed air.

This, however, does not exhaust all of the advantages of the pneumatic sewage pumping station. It is safety that has always been the priority issue to our company. Maintenance in the dry chamber of the pneumatic pumping station is conducted in clean and comfortable conditions as sewage retention is located outside of it, and the system can be completely cut off from the retention tank during maintenance work.

When choosing the SZUSTER system pneumatic sewage pumping station, one can certainly anticipate that it will meet the expectations both of the sewer system users and those of its operators.
